Karen Newman

Senior Attorney

Karen Newman

Karen has been an attorney at the Law Offices of Neal H. Rosenberg since 2004. Prior to joining the Law Offices of Neal H. Rosenberg, Karen interned for Advocates for Children. Karen’s passion for special education law stems from her longtime interest in education and her work with New York City elementary school students through music outreach programs. Karen received her Bachelor of Arts degree from Yale and a Master of Music from the Manhattan School of Music. She began her career in music as a founding member of the award-winning Manhattan Peninsula Wind Quintet, she later transitioned into music education. Karen then attended Hunter College where she earned a Master of Science in Education degree, and later became the Education Director of the New York Chamber Symphony. Her experiences with children with special needs during her time at the New York Chamber Symphony sparked her interest in seeking a law degree as a means of advocating for children with special needs. Karen earned her Juris Doctorate from Fordham Law School. While in law school, she was a member of the special education advocacy clinic.

She is admitted to practice law in New York State.
